Model Slimz (Kota Damansara)

I wanted to purchase a Groupon deal from Model Slimz but I could only find a couple of articles on the Internet about this seemingly new company and most articles were related to the Subang Jaya branch. The phone number given indeed was answered by a woman confirming that the number I rang was Model Slimz,  and their Facebook page has some activity, if that can be taken as a sign of being in business.

Since their SJ branch had a so-so review, I figured the Kota Damansara one couldn't be that bad and went ahead with a purchase.  Upon ringing up to make an appointment, I was told by a lady that they are having some complications at the branch and I was more than welcome to redeem my Groupon at the SJ branch instead. I wasn't agreeable to that and they kindly promised a follow up call the soonest they can accommodate me. Which they did a few weeks later and I was pleasantly surprised.

The KD outlet is located on the street right outside Encorp Mall (The Strand), where dr cafe is at the junction. Fairly easy to find with a big pink sign and street-side parking is available. I went on a Sunday and the streets were very quiet, which may change once the mall opens.

A young girl greeted me, took my details and showed me to a treatment room. Treatment procedure went alright,  not the most comfortable but not the worst. She explained some packages after but were not pushy in sales.

My second visit was more or less a similar experience, pleasant and quick. A quick mention about current facial promotions but again,  no hard selling.

One thing to note was that what was the Groupon offer came with more T&C's than one would interpret when purchasing,  but to me it's one of those 'company policies' that don't leave much room for argument but only to comply.

You could take it as 'I did pay so much less, understandably there would be more restrictions' or 'don't bother offering a discount if you can't offer it whole-heartedly'. 

Overall the establishment is average, service is not bad, alright to return if it was near and convenient, but loyalty towards them can be easily swayed by fellow competitors who could price-beat them or offer more outstanding service. 

I personally stopped going back for treatments due to a lack of follow up and quality of service received elsewhere despite a discount is much better (e.g. Musee). Honestly if my regular beautician doesn't call me up to casually ask me to make an appointment, I probably would not have remembered for the next 3 months. Follow ups in the service industry is no longer an added value, but a necessity.

  1. I know Model Slimz from Groupon deals where they offered Korean 6D eyebrow embroidery come with a facial cleansing package in the end of year 2016. The deal was very attractive and I visited the shop. However, I had a bad experience with Model Slimz at Taipan branch.

    When I first visit to do the eyebrow embroidery, the person in-charge was quite rude. After return home, I found myself being “insulted” by the beautician who later I found she is the owner of the beauty shop.

    Below the services I got on that day:-

    1. I purchased facial treatment too as it was very good deal come with eyebrow embroidery package. I was wearing basic eyeliner made up and lipstick. They had not clean my eyeliner and lipstick make up when did my facial treatment. After the facial treatment, my eye liner dark circle was everywhere on my eye area and I had borrowed additional cotton and toner from the staff to clean my own face. Remaining of the face mask still a little on my face which I had to clean myself too. I wonder was that a standard service deliver by a beautician who doing facial treatment?

    2. In between, I had asked the beautician what is the different between Korean 6D eyebrow embroidery vs. the normal embroidery. She told me there is only 1 type of embroidery in the shop which is the normal type. She don’t know what is 6D embroidery. I wonder why they advertised in Groupon with 6D embroidery. I been con is the conclusion.

    3. Anyway, after I clean-up my face, the beautician start to draw my eyebrow shape and asked my consent for her to start the embroidery. At first, I did not satisfied with the new shape she proposed to me. Then, she redo again. After 2 – 3 rounds, she started impatient with me. Verbally blaming I don’t know what I want in my eyebrow. She reckoned customer always blame her for whatever reason. She wanted me to quickly decide or else, everybody no need to return home for that day. It was around 5pm during that time. I had being push to let her start the embroidery.

    4. She took less than 20 minutes to finish embroil both my eyebrow. Unfortunately after she completed, I found that the eyebrow shape were unbalance between 2 eyebrow. One long, one short.

    5. Furthermore, I found that the color of my eyebrow were uneven as well. She blame my skin can’t color with the embroidery chemical and cannot do anything for it.

    6. I highlights the concerns and again she said:” Not balance so what? Your skin also can’t take the color. No worries, touch up next time.” I take her words and expect next touch up session should fix it.

    7. When I finish everything before I leave the shop, the beautician blame me that I was very contradict and she don’t know how to do my eyebrow.

    8. 1 month after the embroidery, the result really bad which is uneven color & not balance. I was expecting a 2nd round of touch up. It was included in the package I purchased. Unfortunately, I called Model Slimz for almost 2 months to make an appointment, the staff keep gave me multiple of excuses like they are busy, not free, CNY holiday, etc.

    9. After 2 months of chasing and following up, they confirmed that I can do 2nd touch up during weekday only and that was the only way the beautician willing to do my 2nd touch up. I decided to give up this 2nd touch up due to working and unlikely to on leave just for this.

    I not to blame the quality of services from Model Slimz. Above is my real experience with Model Slimz at Taipan. If you don’t mind to receive the same services with their great offer, you may have a try. May be you are luckier than me to receive a better services.

  3. I am having a bad experience with model Slimz too.
    I went for the fave promo for facial treatment. After this the girl named Jannacee keep approaching me to sign up package for meso needling for 10times. I refused to do so as o told me I am having a sensitive skin. Dare not to go for any different treatment. Yet she still keep aksing me to sign her package frm 10times to 5times. I told her I previous bad experience on another facial saloon. But she told me don't worry she will make sure the trratment is effective and convince me go for the lowest package which is 3 times Meso needling. I just give it a try as she is so confident that it will work on my skin. After the first treatment my face turns extremely reddish and herself was shocked and suggest me go to pharmacy get medicine to reduce the reddish. After 2 weeks later without any follow up call from model Slimz , I call to Jannace to inform her my face having a big dark brown spot in different areas. I want her to refund me the money as I feel so upset with the after effect. After the day onwards she rejecting to handle my prob and ignore all my calls.

  4. The way she handle compliants is so bad. She refused and talk so rude to me and hang up my call. And those compromised during the package signing is all gone.
